The President's Letter - Winter 2012-2013

Happy Holidays fellow club members, vendors, sponsors & friends. I hope you enjoy time with those special to you and come away with many fond memories. I expect to see some of those special moments on Facebook and by email as we continue to interweave our lives with these new forms of communication. 

I paid my ACBS annual dues online just the other day for the first time! The Ships Store at Clayton has an online presence also. Our chapter may need to get with the program also as we have some nice goodies in our own CBC Ships Store that you may not be aware of.

Our club had a really nice time at Christmas in St. Michaels this year. The weather was comfortably mild…I did not need to double up on my socks this time.

A few things to keep in mind as we enter this new year:

1. Our first Quarterly Board of Directors Meeting for 2013 is in the process of being planned for late January or early February. Time and location will be announced as soon as plans are finalized. I want to remind all members that you can attend these meetings and I encourage you to do so. You can bring agenda items to the attention of the board, and participate in committee discussions. There will also be time to mix and mingle following the meeting.

2. Joining one of our Chesapeake Bay Chapter (CBC) committees is really a great venue to get involved in activities that match your particular interests while also getting to know fellow members. This is frequently where new friendships are made, and you can get involved as little or as much as your schedule permits.  All of our committees will welcome extra hands and new ideas, so don’t be shy.

• Registration
• Public relations
• Logistics and volunteers
• Seminars
• Meals & catering

CBC Communications

• Website content – help us write/edit photos and/or articles.  Or upload content if you know or want to learn the Joomla CMS
• Member announcements via Constant Contact--help us email announcements and updates to our members and friends
• Our quarterly print magazine (The Stuffing Box) -- help with editing articles, photos, and/or prep for printing and mailing

CBC Member Programs—

Help us prep for and/or staff various activities throughout the year, including:

• Our displays at area boat shows
• Member excursions to interesting locations/museums/boat restorers, etc.
• Spring/Summer/Fall boating events on local lakes and rivers
