A Letter from Our 2009 Boat Festival Chair![]() May 2009 — We are now coming into the final stretch of preparation for our 22nd Annual Antique and Classic Boat Festival. We are looking forward to welcoming our International board members with a Thursday Night Cruise and Welcome Reception. The museum has offered its own “Mr. Jim” to lead the way, followed by our participants and their boats. At the end of the cruise, come join us for the reception under the tent by the Steamboat building. This will be a kick-off to a great weekend. This year Hagerty Insurance is proud to sponsor the Youth Development Program, concentrating on “Youth in Judging”. We’re looking for children to assist us in judging boats. If your children would like to learn about boats and the judging process, please sign them up. This will be a day of fun and education for all ages. In addition, Tommy Bahama has again come on board as a major sponsor. We’ll have the Tommy Bahama Bar set up on the Oystering Building Deck as well as Biscontini Boat Works’ James Craft kit boats. We’re also pleased to welcome two new sponsors this year:
As you know this kind of event cannot be a success without the contributions of our dedicated volunteers. Della Glenn, our Volunteer Coordinator, has been working diligently to organize a team schedule that will ensure our Festival’s success. Please consider donating an hour or two of your time over the course of the June 19-21 weekend. You'll have fun and also give fellow volunteers some time to enjoy the Festival as well. To thank our volunteers, the Chapter will sponsor a Volunteer Party on 27 June, which will consist of a picnic and river cruise at Jim & Lois Duffy’s on the Severn River.
So please get involved, your chapter needs you!!! Just fill out our “contact form” on this website. Della will follow up to see how you’d like to be involved. It’s a great way to assist in the success of your Festival and join in the comradery with fellow members.
We look forward to seeing you there!
